Fellowship Examination of the College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCCM)

Eligibility Criteria for FCCCM (new)
Eligibility Criteria for the 1-year FCCCM course (Fellowship of the College of Critical Care Medicine) updated 29 July 2024
1. Candidate must be a member of the College of Critical Care Medicine.
(If not a member, go to ICUeducation.com to apply for membership).
2. (a) Candidate must be minimum MBBS or Diploma* holder from Medical College recognised by their respective University/ Medical Council of their country.
(* only diploma in Anaesthesia, Pulmonary medicine, Emergency Medicine are included).
(b) Post-qualification, candidate must submit proof of minimum one year of ICU work experience from their Head of ICU/ Institute. (Minimum 6 months of continuous working experience in an ICU will be considered towards the total one-year ICU experience. That means either 1-year in a single ICU or 2 certificates of 6-months each).
3. Candidates with MD/ DNB in Anaesthesia, General Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine or Emergency Medicine need to submit only a 6 month post qualification ICU work experience certificate.
4. If your post-graduate qualification is not mentioned above and you feel it is directly or indirectly related to above speciality, then you need to contact Academic Council of CCEF for consideration/ approval. (office @ ccef.in).
5. If candidate has passed any national/ international Critical Care/ Intensive Care examination, they do not need to submit any ICU experience certificate provided your examination mandates minimum 12-months of working in an ICU.
6. Online examinations in Critical Care without ICU working experience will not be considered (except the IFICM examination- International Foundation course in Intensive Care Medicine of CCEF).
7. Please note that the FCCCM exit examination will be a physical examination and not online.
Examination Format for the FCCCM Examination
1. Assessment of performance throughout the year:
(a). Logbook* in Prescribed format to be submitted in digital format. This will contain fully worked up material as per sample logbook under following categories:
1. Clinical Cases: (5)
2. ABGs: (10)
3. Biochemistry: (10)
4. ECG: (5)
5. Xrays: (5)
6. CT scans/MRIs: (5)
7. Drugs: (3)
8. Equipment: (3)
9 Haematology & Coagulation: (3)
10. Graphs: (4)

(b). In cases where logbook cannot be made due to privacy restriction on patient data, special permission from the College office for submitting Academic Diary of 150 Academic Credit points may be requested in the beginning of the academic year.
(c). Submit 1 PowerPoint presentations on topics allotted to them with voice over recording.
(d). Submit Proof of attending at least 1 Ventilator workshop and 1 ACLS workshop.
(e). Proof of Attending the Orientation program and Crash Course as mandated for each course.
2. Assessment at one point in time: [The EXIT Exam]
The exit exam will be held at any one venue for that year. Dates and venue will be announced in advance.
Exit exam will have following Components:
(a). Theory Exams: 2 papers with MCQ/True & False pattern
(b). E-Cases: 3 E-cases that will be a mixture of viva + Clinical examination scenarios across the table.
(c). Communication station: 1 scenario
(d). OSCEs: These will be multiple ACTIVE stations for 12 minutes at each station (2 min to read, 10 min to write) with REST stations in between.
